CAB Worldwide Selected As A Top Women-owned Firm In Atlanta

Last month, the Atlanta Business Chronicle published their annual rankings for Atlanta’s Top 20 Women-Owned Firms. The list was based on 2014 companywide revenue, ensuring an unbiased selection process for all participants. The chosen companies cover a wide range of industries, including many in the skilled sector.

CAB Worldwide is proud to announce that we have been named to this list for 2015. Not only are we named among the highly esteemed Top 20 members, we’re actually ranked in the top 10 of this list – coming in at number 7 in the group.

As a Certified Women’s Business Enterprise providing industrial castings and forgings, CAB Worldwide is used to attracting attention. Our products have been used in a number of high profile projects. Recently, we won an award from the Steel Tank Institute/Steel Plate Fabricators Association for our role in building the tallest flagpole in North America. Our steel pipe flanges were critical in this high stakes endeavor.

CAB Worldwide Wins Award Thanks To Our Role In Building The Tallest Flagpole In North America

The Steel Tank Institute/Steel Plate Fabricators Association (STI/STPFA) hosts an Annual Product Awards competition in which they give out various awards in different categories. The categories range from steel water pipe fabrication to elevated tanks to standpipes. One of the awards is given in the New Affiliate Product category, and this past year, CAB came away the winner thanks to our Steel Pipe Flanges for Fabricated Steel Tower – a tower which is now officially the Tallest Flagpole in North America.

To offer some perspective, The Statue of Liberty stands 305 feet, 1inch from the ground to the tip of her flame, her highest point. Much like The Statue of Liberty stands for freedom and breaking the chains of oppression, CAB’s flanges help the Tallest Flagpole in North America stand even taller, an impressive 100 feet taller to be precise. The height is fitting as CAB Worldwide believes it reinforces America’s commitment to liberty. This engineering marvel was built for Acuity Insurance Company, based out of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The company’s goal was to build the world’s tallest tribute to freedom. We believe we helped them reach this goal.

The pole itself has large custom flanges that range from 5 1/2 feet to 12 feet in diameter. It took 353,000 pounds of steel to make the pole, and custom rigging to build it. The foundation is 70 feet wide by 10 feet deep concrete, with 55 tons of rebar, and 148 anchor bolts. The structure is made to withstand 200 mile an hour winds, hour after hour, and any type of weather. The pole holds an American flag that is 7,200 sq. ft. and is four stories tall. The dedication ceremony for the Tallest Flagpole in North America took place on June 16, 2014. The flag atop the pole is a patriotic reminder of the fight for freedom and the many service members who have given their lives for our country.

Introduction To CAB Worldwide

Welcome to CAB Worldwide new blog! In this blog, we’ll discuss what’s happening with U.S. manufacturing, worldwide industries, our company, and much more. For those of you just getting to know us, we wanted to talk a little more in-depth about we offer, and for those who have been around for as long as we have, feel free to subscribe on the top left to keep up with all the latest company news and events.

To begin, we want to look back into a little bit about what brought us to increase our digital presence. In 1982, we started as a sales agency representing pipe flange manufacturers.   Now, we’ve grown to become a leader in the manufacturing and global sourcing of waterworks and industrial pipe flanges, wind tower components, and precision machined industrial castings and forgings.   We have a manufacturing and distribution facility centrally located in Texas and we have engineering teams on the ground in China, India, Vietnam and Korea using statistical process control methods to monitor production and seek opportunities for continuous improvement.

With steady growth over the years, we’ve built a team of highly skilled specialists including forging experts, foundry engineers, metallurgists, machining experts, quality systems experts and skilled project managers to bring the highest quality products to our customers.
